I was watching Bad Girls Club and Whitney stays talking about Boston. Good for her but no one beats my Brooklyn peeps repping hard for their borough. We rep Brooklyn HARD. No matter where you go (city, state, country or wherever) someone is from Brooklyn. We have some of the best people hailing from BK - Shirley Chisholm, the first black woman to be elected to Congress. Sports greats - Michael Jordan and Mike Tyson. Academy Award winners Mel Brooks, Louis Gosset Jr., Barbra Streisand, and Marisa Tomei. Funny comedians - Jerry Seinfeld, Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock. Awesome rappers - Jay-Z, Fabolous, Big Daddy Kane, Talib Kweli, Mos Def and of course the Notorious B.I.G.!! We got the best everything. Best pizza-Grimaldi's, best cheesecake-Juniors, best steak-Peter Lugers. Where else can you go for jerk chicken at four in the morning? (Shout outs to Mackenzie's on Utica). LOL!!
I'm taking it back and want to reminisce on old school Brooklyn for a minute. To the Easter Sundays at Coney Island or the Aquarium when you were young. Then going as teenagers but only riding Himalaya or Music Express. Barbequeing in the summer at Canarsie Pier, Prospect Park or in your projects grassy areas/parks lol! Chilling downtown at Albee Square Mall, going to Bargain Bazaar to bring in our old doorknockers or fronts to get a discount on new ones while getting a new pair of 54.11s or Jordans then going to the pizzeria that had the pizza with the heavy cheese (no we didn't ask for extra cheese-that's just how it came). Shout outs to all the old dancehall clubs - The Biltmore, Golden Pavillion, Tilden Ballroom, Club Rendezvous aka The Legend aka Culture Club that even if u were fifteen you could still sneak up in them joints lmao!
So for this edition of Old School Wednesdays, we are picking video(s), yes plural because like Santogold says 'BROOKLYN WE GO HARD'!! Enjoy!!
PS I know you're reading this and thinking to yourself 'No BIG?' well he talks about BK in every song, so I'd have to post all his albums lol! But what I do have is his acceptance speech from the infamous '95 Source Awards.

OMG!...that "super-size" pizza with the heavy sauce and sugery after taste was priceless. And you struck a nerve with memories of being a 16 year old learning essential barganing tactics when dealing with the jewelers in bargin bazaar..ah Brooklyn!!!
